Beating The Favourites



Last friendly I have to play before the start of the Championship season. Against CFR Cluj, who are in the qualifying rounds of the European Cup. Punters have written my side off but I'll prove them wrong. Fast.

Joe Ledley opened the scoring on 6th minute after an excellent move by Cardiff. Bogdan Stancu added another from a direct free-kick to bring his pre-season goals tally to 4. CFR Cluj pulled one back but the 2 goals lead was restored after a minute when new signing Mika Aaritalo, who signed from Turun Palloseura for 1M, scored.

Right from the restart, a misjudged through ball by the goalkeeper gave Kevin McNaughton the chance to send the ball back into the box with the keeper outside the 6 yard box. CFR Cluj defender Radu Tolciu knocked the ball into his own net to put the game far from CFR Cluj's reach. A late consolation goal by CFR Cluj was unable to change the game and Cardiff City have proved the punter's wrong with this win. A great morale-booster before the Championship season starts.
